Creating a Facebook Page for Your Practice

It seems like social media is everywhere these days.  From the Twitter craze with celebrities to blogs that cover just about everything to Facebook and MySpace accounts galore... where do you even begin?  While some social media outlets may seem superfluous for your industry, you might want to consider how they could be helpful.  In this article from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), Caren Baginski discusses how Facebook is not only bringing together like-minded people but also serving businesses by reaching their customers on a whole new level.

Whether you decide to keep it simple and post office hours and standard information, or branch out and include patients' stories and photos, blogs and videos, you can interact with your patients and their families in a more personal way.

Some hospitals and medical centers have really taken this approach to heart and are including photos of their building's renovations, press releases about their facilities or having one of their physicians post weekly health tips for their viewers.  No matter which approach you feel fits your practice best, be sure to maximize the amount of "fans" for your page by including the URL or link in all emails, press releases and on office staples such as business cards and magnets.
